When Internet Marketing Gurus Sell Their Souls
Wednesday, December 31, 2008

If you're just starting in Internet marketing, May you be impressed by the amount of "Internet gurus" there, each millions of dollars (or so they claim) and for some reason seem more than willing to a fee, to teach you their biggest, most intimate secrets.

Well, I believe in one thing - "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is!"

Although I have no doubt about the skills and techniques used by these gurus, there may be a little frustrating simply too tangled and lost in all their hype, and find almost no value at the end of the day. Hype - that's one thing I agree these guru are really good. For some, unfortunately, the hype is the only thing they are good.

So the question for those who try to control Internet Marketing, could include:

1) Can I learn anything from these gurus without paying money?
2) Who is real and who's not?
3) whose Internet marketing methods should I attend?

Question 1: Can I learn something free?

Most Internet users have guru of the opt-in newsletters on specialized topics such as website, Pay-Per-Click Advertising, Search Engine Optimization or whatever expertise they have "controlled" . Almost all try to convince you to subscribe to their newsletter in return for a "breakthrough" report, and promise to provide "valuable information" weekly or monthly to your e-mail. Sounds great ...

Here's what happens 2 weeks later - you realize that the "breakthrough report" is the same regurgitated information you can find almost anywhere. You can also realize that "useful information" almost never comes without hidden agenda. The "valuable information" generally appears to be a soft ad sales (and sometimes blatant advertising) for the guru of new products or seminars paid, or worse, other Internet products.

I am not trying to shoot down any trader here, but the irony is in their education. Almost all the gurus of the Internet you valuable advice to offer free information that benefits others. The benefits, as they say, is secondary to help people and make a difference in their lives. Give before taking this .... a load of BS!

How is it that they do not practice what they preach? From the way that the "Internet Marketing Game" is really played? Certainly, nobody minds receiving ads and promotions, as long as there is equitable treatment of freedom of information are available.

Fortunately, the Internet is not all traders are the same. There are still jewels to be found, and they offer excellent information in their newsletters, which they generously offer free, such as:

1) Vishal Rao (http://www.home-based-business-opportunities.com) talks about starting and managing businesses at home.
2) Mike Cheney (http://www.magnet4web.com) speaks of building an effective and efficient corporate Web site.
3) Jill Whalen (http://www.highrankings.com) speaks of Search Engine Optimization.
4) Allan Gardyne (http://www.associateprograms.com) is the authority on affiliate programs and affiliate marketing, with a winning newsletter.

Of course, there are many more good marketing there, and you'll have to get through several bad before you get to the good. There is no need to subscribe to each newsletter Internet marketing just to hope for nuggets of gold that never come May. Instead, gurus give a "trial" month, and if you do not find something of value from them, just unsubscribe from their lists.

There will be a loss for them, not you.

Question 2: Who is real and who's not?

To answer this question, you really have to "circumvent" the Internet much. Take part in Internet marketing forums where you finally find topics on info-products, seminars and software offered by these gurus and see what others have to say about them.

Forget all those blaring evidence that the gurus compile on their site. After visiting several websites guru, you early May to find the same faces and names, helping each other by giving testimony that are rarely supported by the evidence. The forums are where the evidence is real.

If you are browsing the Internet much to try to find good value for money, then you'll need the Alexa toolbar. What this toolbar does that give you an idea of the popularity of the Web site you visit. Secondly, it allows you to see who are the closest competitors are, to give you more alternatives to choose from. In addition, it also displays comments and advice given by others who have visited the website or used any product sold through the website. This is where you find the "not so beautifully polished" opinions and testimony.

(Alexa is owned by Amazon.com. If you're concerned about installing toolbars on your computer, make sure to adjust the settings accordingly)

May you also want to consider this site:

- GuruDaq: http://www.gurudaq.com

Taking on a Nasdaq-like approach, this site lists all the gurus in accordance with the advice and stock price. "Although I advise you to take over its entertainment value than actual recommendations, perhaps this site will provide an overview of "who's who" in Internet marketing.

Question 3: Who do I follow methods?

Honestly, nobody did. At least not word for word what is thought in their newsletters or ebooks. The important thing to realize is that you need to develop your own technique to be successful. The guru does not teach you, anyway. They almost always feed you of culture, but keep the cream for themselves. In other words, nobody really tells you the "hot money-making secrets". They do not teach them if the money secret facts.

There are many places to get feedback on Internet marketing ebooks, but warned that most will be biased in one way or another. Here is a good resource downloadable in PDF format on ebook comments, distributed with the permission of the author:

- Product promotion Web Exposed "by Mike Cheney:

Its really up to you to learn some tips and tricks of the trade from Internet gurus, but on your own course. To succeed in anything, you need to do your own thing. Be original in your approach, whether writing letters sales, making email marketing, writing articles, pay-per-click or Search Engine Optimization, and the world will take notice.

It is also important to realize that before you go around shopping for all kinds of "how to" hardware and software you need to get a good grip of what your business really needs. You will need to develop a solid, specific and detailed business plan before embarking on a quest to improve your knowledge, which are essential to the success of your business. Here are some good resources for writing business plans effective:

When you know what your business really need, you're more likely to recognize the exact type of Internet marketing method you need to study and master. Do not just look at someone who has sold his soul long ago to guide you on the path to success.

It is a pious wish.
